Installing this 108Mbps Wireless Ceiling PoE Access Point WAP-3101 in your home or office will make connecting to the internet wirelessly simple.

The 108Mbps Wireless Ceiling PoE Access Point WAP-3101, designed to look like a smoke detector, is designed for home and office networks wanting to offer blazing speeds for all your web surfing needs and highly encrypted security options to protect your data on your LAN (Local Area Network).

This wireless access point offers speeds reaching 108Mbps with Super G ideal for streaming movies, videos, and music online while also being backward compliant with 802.11b/g standards. Transferring large files between computers in your network will be quick due to the high DTR (Data Transfer Rate).

Incorporated into the design of this access point is a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port for merging LAN (Local Area Network) and WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) together allowing files to be shared between workstations. You can also connect the wireless access point to the RJ-45 port to receive power as it has the capability for PoE (Power over Ethernet). This method uses the twisted pairs from a Cat 3, Cat 5, or Cat 6 Ethernet cable to receive electrical power.

2 built-in 4dBi Directional Antennas were added to the design of this Wireless Ceiling PoE Access Point to provide a wide operation range of approximately 100 meters indoor and 200 meters outdoor which means your signal will be consistent.

One of the most important things to remember when creating a WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) is that hackers can steal your personal data if you don’t secure it with high security encryption which is why WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy), WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access), WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access II) and IEEE 802.1x for high level security can be added to this access point.

Managing how your bandwidth is being distributed can be accomplished with QoS (Quality over Service) which is great when you want certain applications to have more for better quality like VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone systems.

Up to 4 SSID (Service Set Identifier) broadcasts can be configured so that when guests arrive at the home or office they are limited to what they can see on your home network or office network which is done by setting policies and restrictions.
