Description of Thomas and Betts Electrical Wire Connectors
Splicing wires to make new connections is pretty common on project sites, and it’s even more common for those pairs to be exposed to harsh elements. To match that, Thomas and Betts have made Electrical Wire Connectors out of chemical resistant plastic, ensuring they won’t break and will resist household solvents, diluted acid, and alkaline solutions. These connectors are known as wire nuts, encasing a twisted pair of wires and terminating the connection.
Fixed Spring and Free Spring wire joints are available; fixed springs require twisting during installation and will not expand to accommodate larger wires, whereas free springs do need to be twisted and will expand if necessary. Both types of mar connectors are flame retardant, UL listed at a standard of 486°C. Thomas and Betts Electrical Wire Connectors are also certified by the CSA as safe to use products. Standard connectors (fixed) accept AWG sizes of 10-22, and Winged wire joints (free) work with 6-22 AWG.
