Some power cables use stranded wire in efforts to create a larger conductor for more power. CCTV security camera systems could benefit from such wire for this and other reasons. At high transmission frequencies, currents that travel across power wires can cause a decrease in power; in addition, wires that work around metal and corrosive material tend to work less efficiently.
Stranded copper wires are more resistant to metal fatigue, and are perfect for small devices that require flexible cabling such as circuit boards or the AC line cords in CCTV cameras. Stranded copper security wires may also reduce the effect of power loss from high frequency currents.
